Success Story: Words from an Aurora Case Manager

A client applied with Aurora in March for rental assistance to prevent her eviction after having lost her job when she refused to work while Covid positive, with active symptoms. The client is the head of the household, in a multi-generational minority family. She lives with her two college-age daughters, who are both full-time college students, and her toddler granddaughter. After losing her job, the client got behind on rent and was facing eviction for her family of four. Aurora was able to assist her through the ESG Covid assistance through the city of Evansville. Aurora was able to take care of a significant portion of expenses, giving this family a chance to stabilize with the new employment the client has recently found, ultimately preventing this family from becoming homeless and having to seek emergency housing through a local family shelter. Not only did it prevent the eminent eviction, but also helped this multi-generational family to stay together in the hopes the client’s two daughters can finish their college education and build a better future for themselves and their community without experiencing homelessness.
