Homeless Memorial Service

Each year, Aurora sponsors the Homeless Memorial Service in partnership with the National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day. This year, the event will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 5:30 PM, and will be held in the sanctuary at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 216 SE 3rd Street.
Since the first Annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day was commemorated in 1990, Aurora has continued the tradition of honoring those who have lost their lives while experiencing homelessness in our area and has been hosting the local memorial service since 2000. This year, as we gather, the Evansville community will recognize and reflect on the seven individuals who have passed away in 2025, bringing the total to 182 lives lost over the past 25 years. The service includes a candle-lighting ceremony, moments of personal reflection, and a time to remember those who are often left behind or forgotten.
