Homeless Memorial Service

Aurora held our 20th Annual Community Homeless Memorial Service on December 10, 2020 at The Gathering Church. Aurora and our community partners would like to remember those who have passed away this last year while being homeless. Our next Memorial Service will be in December 2021 in downtown Evansville.

The National Coalition for the Homeless instituted the practice in 1990 and encourages communities across the nation to remember those who have died because of the day to day realities and long-term effects of homelessness. The memorial service is held during the winter months, which marks the beginning of a particularly difficult and dangerous time for people who are homeless.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 service was limited to 30 individuals and was livestreamed through The Gathering’s Facebook Page and YouTube page. You can view the 2020 event here
