“Artistry Unhoused: Enlightenment from the Streets” presented by German American Bank
Lack of affordable housing is a key issue facing our community, causing an increase in homelessness. At Aurora, our mission is to “create solutions to prevent and strive to end homelessness in our community” and we work under the mantra that everyone has value.
Our intention with “Artistry Unhoused” is to build a wider understanding of people who are often overlooked, misunderstood or simply unwelcome through highlighting their creative contributions. These include all types of mediums, including but not limited to, paintings, photography, jewelry, music and more.
The purpose of this opening reception is to thank our partners, sponsors, and volunteers that will help make the subsequent exhibit happen, plus raise some money that we can put right back into our eight essential programs that fight homelessness and follows our vision “that the community will be stronger when every man, woman and child have a safe, decent, and sustainable place to call home”.
Doors open at 4:30 PM with the reception starting at 5:00 PM. This event will take place in the Ballroom at Sauced.
There will be a slideshow preview of some of work, a behind the scenes look at the process of putting this all together and a few pieces that will go to the exhibit on display. There will also be light hors d’oeuvres and cash bar available.
The subsequent exhibit will be at the Arts Council of SW Indiana from August 10-28, 2021 with a Closing Reception on August 28 for the artists, awards presentations in different categories, and musical entertainment.
ALL sales from the artwork will go 100% directly to the artist.
“Artistry Unhoused” is a collaboration with the Arts Council of SW Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College photography department and students, Patchwork Central, the Peace Zone, all our many homeless services partners that helped spread the word for our “call for artists” and most importantly, all the creatives and artists that are homeless or have recently experienced homelessness in the tri-state.
Single Opening Reception tickets are $25 a piece and smaller group sponsor packages are available.
