Aurora’s Homeless Simulation
The purpose of the simulation is to educate and bring awareness around the issues of homelessness. By giving participants a ‘hands on’ experience, we believe you will gain a new perspective of homelessness as well as the barriers people face in our community. REGISTER HERE
Prior to exercise:
Participates are asked to arrive in non-descript clothing (no logos or uniforms) that is comfortable for walking and appropriate for the weather, as we will be outside.
Participants are advised that they will need to leave personal items such as wallets, purses and anything of value locked and secured in their vehicles.
Must arrive at 8:45am. The simulation will start promptly at 9:00am and you will be dismissed at 3:00pm.

What will the day look like:
Meet up at Aurora – a group will consist of no more than 5 participants.
You will have a short Q&A with the case manager(s) about Aurora and homelessness.
We will draw up a POA. The POA consists of the group forming a plan as an individual homeless person, derived from each individual’s plan out of homelessness.
Cell phones will be collected and they will be put in a backpack and brought to the simulation but only used in case of an emergency.
The group will be dropped off by Aurora staff downtown, then will proceed to follow the groups plan on foot.
We will review what you experienced that day.
